Magic Netball joins local business to boost female leadership

New Zealand's most successful netball franchise, the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic, has teamed up with local farm Rawhiti Pork in a one of a kind partnership that will see the two working to develop leadership and personal skills with young women in the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic netball team.

The Magic Leadership Team Development Program will be backed by the Te Aroha based farm with a keen interest on using the new relationship to increase its effect as a supporter of grass-roots sport and community initiatives in the Piako/Hauraki region. The program provides a series of seminars and tailored sessions designed specifically for the needs of its young female participants. Both players and supporting staff will participate in the course, facilitated by Head Coach Margaret Forsyth, which provides a structured, planned path towards improvement for the next generation of leaders within our sport.

WBoP Magic Head Coach, Margaret Forsyth, said of the new partnership;

“Magic really appreciates Rawhiti Pork Ltds support in making our Leadership Team Development Programme become a reality.  We know that developing leaders in our team will not only enhance our performance on the court but will grow leadership capability off the court in our community and the business world.  We’re excited and energized by the opportunities that Rawhiti Pork has opened up for us.”

While Netball Waikato Bay of Plenty Chief Executive, Rohan West added;

“We are delighted to welcome Rawhiti Pork to our family of commercial partners. Not only do they share our desire to develop the next generation of female leaders in our sport, but they also support grass-roots netball in their local area. Part of our role across the wider Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Gisbourne/East Coast area, is to provide personal development opportunities to our participants via our great sport. Through our partnership with Rawhiti Pork, we can give some of the leaders in our Magic team a more formalised leadership development programme, and we in turn can help Rawhiti Pork with its support of grassroots netball in Te Aroha."

Rawhiti Pork Ltd General Manager, Jonathan Nabbs had this to say;

“Rawhiti Pork Ltd are incredibly motivated to partner with Netball WBoP and the Magic Leadership Team Development Program (Magic LTDP). As well as having terrific values which align closely with our own, the Magic LTDP will allow us to help grow the next generation of young female leaders in the Waikato. As a high-welfare farm, we have a Maori motto which translates to “Let us nurture the flax;” which broadly means that we should care for the young to build a better tomorrow. We are delighted that Netball WBoP & the Magic LTDP share our views so that together we can make a difference."
